Atlantoraphidia maculicollis (Stephens, 1836) is associated with Pinus (although also recorded on larch), the larvae living within dead wood feeding on the larvae of other invertebrates, such as beetles. The adults tend to be restricted to the upper canopy where they feed on aphids and can be seen from May to August mainly in southern England, with patchy records extending northwards into Scotland. It is apparently absent from Ireland.

As with other Raphidioptera, the females can be distinguished from the males by the long needle-like ovipositor which is used to insert eggs into the wood.
