Restricted to England, Phaeostigma notata (Fabricius, 1781) is associated with Quercus, the larvae living under the bark and in dead word of deciduous trees. As with other Raphidioptera species the larvae feed on other invertebrate larvae. Phaeostigma notata (Fabricius, 1781) can be found on the wing from April to August.
